Stephen Folson, DDS, MS, PC

Dr. Stephen Folson is a Board Certified Periodontist and dental implant surgeon. He was thrilled to join Dental Home Family Dentistry after 38 years of private practice in the West Valley. Steve is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago Dental School (1979). Thereafter, he completed a general practice residency at the VA in Ann Arbor, MI (1980) and a two year residency in periodontics at Loyola University of Chicago. He received a Specialty Certification in Periodontics and a Masters Degree in 1982.

Subsequently, Steve and his wife Gretchen, both from Grand Forks, ND, relocated to Arizona to begin his private practice serving Peoria and Sun Cities. He was awarded Diplomat Status by the American Board of Periodontology in 1988.

Dr. Folson has placed dental implants for over 30 years and strongly believes in collaborative and patient centered care. He truly enjoys building relationships with his patients. Aside from dentistry, Steve enjoys family vacations in NO. Minnesota on Lake Bemidji, gardening movies and their two terriers, Oliver and Max.

Dental Home - Dr. Furlong

Edward K. Furlong, DMD

Dr. Edward Furlong is a native of Geraldine, Montana. In high school he enlisted in the US Army Reserves. While earning his undergraduate degree at Montana State University, he pole-vaulted on the MSU track team and completed ROTC.

Following graduation, he commissioned as a US Army Officer. Dr. Furlong served nine years on active duty in the Infantry, deployed twice to Iraq, and commanded the Reno, Nevada Recruiting Company.

In 2013, he left the Army and transitioned into dental school. He earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at Midwestern University where Dr. Furlong discovered that helping people achieve their best health is his true calling. He places implants and monitors research on the oral-systemic link.

When not practicing dentistry, he enjoys lifting weights, reading, listening to podcasts, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Dental Home - Dr. Oatis

John Oatis, DDS

Dr. Oatis was born and raised in a suburb of Pittsburgh and moved to Phoenix when he was 15 years old. He attended Gerard High School and then 4 years of college at Northern Arizona University. After 1 year of graduate school at University of Arizona, he attended Northwestern University Dental School.

Dr. Oatis began practicing dentistry in 1980. He has been married to the girl of his dreams for 44 years! His love of drawing and art carried over to his love of the art of dentistry.

Dr. Oatis continues to broaden his scope of dentistry by taking many continuing education courses. He has also volunteered at the John C. Lincoln Hospital Children's Dental Clinic for 20 years.

In his spare time, Dr. Oatis enjoys running, exercising daily, reading, and is an avid golfer. Even though he is a SERIOUS Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he also supports the Cardinals, Diamondbacks and the Suns.

Melanie Hull, DDS

Melanie Simchak Hull, DDS, MAGD was raised in the Moon Valley area of Phoenix and attended Lookout Mountain Elementary School, Mountain Sky Jr. High and Thunderbird High School. She completed an accelerated six-year program at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1997. Dr. Hull then pursued advanced hospital training at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, emphasizing children’s dentistry and patients with special needs.

Since entering private practice, Dr. Hull has continued her philosophy of being a life-long learner by earning Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry. With over 20 years of experience in general dentistry and sedation dentistry for all ages, she strives to create a positive experience for each patient.

Dr. Hull volunteers her time with several local charities and is a board member of the Delta Dental Foundation.

Michael Hull, DDS

Michael Hull, DDS, FAGD grew up in Missouri and completed an accelerated six-year program at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1997 with his wife Melanie.

As an officer in the US Navy, he completed a hospital residency program at the Naval Hospital-Camp Pendleton in California. He provided a wide range of dental services to our sailors and marines.

He is an Arizona Dental Board appointed evaluator for the Oral Sedation Permit. He has successfully performed thousands of dental sedation procedures over his career and looks forward to providing a safe and comfortable experience for all patients at Dental Home.

He has earned a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a Practitioner-Evaluator for the NIH National Practice-Based Research Network.

He and Dr. Melanie Hull have four school-aged children and is an active volunteer with the local Boy Scout troop.
